May 2023 ~ Volume 168

Inspiring. Meaningful. Adventure.

Place-based Learning in the Great Outdoors

We are excited to announce our 17th season! We have introduced nearly 3,800 paddlers from 45 states and staged 81 events in some of Florida's most spectacular environments over the past 16 years.  Thank you for coming along with us. As we were listening to music by Brian Smalley under the stars, among colorful tents and tall trees, we were reminded of the power of getting outside with like-minded people to share this incredible paddling experience.  We hope you will join us for spectacular locations, speakers, catering and camaraderie this upcoming season!

Please join us in congratulating  Dorsey DeMaster, President of Florida Paddling Trails Association, the winner of our 2023 Environmental Leadership Award.

Included in this issue are: "The Physical Benefits of Camping" by Christina Pay, Assistant Professor / Utah State University; "Nancy Watson Is The Winner Of Our Paddler Raffle To Help Protect Florida's Waterways"; Sargassum and How to Choose a PFD.

Thanks to everyone who supported us this season! Our partners, vendors, speakers and musicians. Our board, volunteers and staff. For those who came on trips, who donated to our cause and to those who volunteered with us! YOU make a difference and enable us to continue our mission of protecting Florida’s waterways!
